Celebrating its three-decade milestone, The Holiday Club, Africa’s largest points timeshare club and The Beekman Group’s flagship timeshare provider, proudly celebrates an achievement of over 8.7 million holidays.
This remarkable milestone not only reflects the trust and satisfaction of its members but also emphasises The Holiday Club‘s significant role in providing extraordinary holidays for South African families. Co-director of the Beekman Group, Neville Beekman, attributes the Club’s success to the support of all its stakeholders and a commitment to enhancing the resort experience across all our flagship properties.
“Credit is also due to our experienced sales professionals and welcoming resort staff who go ‘above and beyond’ to making extraordinary holidays THE standard for all these years,” says Neville.
FROM HUMBLE BEGINNINGS
In 1970, partners and friends, Bram and John Beekman opened a paint contracting business called Beekman Group Painters. By 1980, the business had blossomed and was subsequently sold. The same year they moved to Durban where they diversified and entered the timeshare industry.
Their first development situated at Banana Beach on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast was affiliated to RCI (UK) and paved the way for them to enter the local leisure industry. It also set the scene for the official launch of the Beekman Group in 1981, a respected developer and marketing pioneer of timeshare in South Africa. This was followed by the development of a further six timeshare resorts under the Suntide brand, ending with Suntide Qunu Lodge at Qunu Falls near Ixopo.
In 1993, the Group launched its first subsidiary, The Holiday Club – marking the beginning of a new era in the realm of timeshares.
“To understand the extent of our journey, we must revisit our origins, where the pioneering achievements of John and Bram Beekman laid the groundwork for our success, and where industry partnerships and relationships played a pivotal role in creating a thriving environment for timeshare businesses to prosper. We would also like to take this opportunity to celebrate our long-standing relationship with VOASA, which has, since its inception in 1990, supported this south coast-based family business,” notes Neville.
CONSTANTLY EVOLVING
Over the past thirty years, The Holiday Club has evolved to meet the needs of its members. A wide range of holiday products, various budget considerations, and continuous innovation in the digital experience has kept The Club competitive in the modern timeshare landscape. Just as the company is a family business, promoting a family culture away from the well-trodden path into memory making resorts has been a successful underlying strategy in its vision of ‘making extraordinary holidays the standard.’
A TIMELESS COMMITMENT TO MAKING EXTRAORDINARY HOLIDAYS THE STANDARD
Today, The Holiday Club is recognised as the largest leisure club in Africa. Through acquired investments in resorts and its own developments – club members have access to 130 resorts located in sought-after destinations across Southern Africa. Its expansion into Australia and New Zealand opens the door to a tremendous variety of international resorts, with future potential markets being explored.
“As we embark on the next chapter, we remain focused on making extraordinary holidays THE standard. Here’s to the next 30!” concludes Neville
