SA timeshare – An award-winning industry

South African timeshare resorts are regarded as among the best in the world and consistently win awards for quality of accommodation and overall holiday experiences. This is testament to the commitment of the industry to strive for properties that are safe, modern and offer exceptional holidays.

Creating an unbeatable experience for timeshare owners and club members, means staying abreast of the very latest developments and trends in the sector. Resort awards signify an ongoing commitment to quality and is one of the methods used to benchmark timeshare properties against industry standards. It also sends a message to timeshare owners and club members that this resort meets the benchmark set by industry award programmes.

The RCI South Africa Resort Recognition Programme currently honours 57 affiliated resorts in its Gold Crown category and 53 affiliated resorts in the Silver Crown category. These resorts that have met or exceeded specific standards set in the areas of housekeeping, maintenance, hospitality, check-in/check-out procedures, and an evaluation of resort facilities, amenities and services. The winners are chosen from the results of the comment card scores submitted by RCI members when visiting the resorts.

The iExchange Diamond Grading Award is another industry award programme based on an annual on-site assessment covering quality, maintenance and facilities at the resorts. Resorts are given a grading of between one and five diamonds based on their site assessment. The higher the diamond status, the higher rated the resort is. Currently 153 resorts throughout South Africa have received this prestigious Diamond Grading.

The massive investment into maintaining the high standard of VOASA member resorts to keep them modern, functional and technologically aligned is showcased not only by timeshare industry awards, but also by prestigious world and South African tourism and hospitality awards. We’ve highlighted a few such resorts in this blog:
