Celebrating Excellence in
Award Recipients Announced at Prestigious Industry Event
The VOASA Awards Ceremony marked a proud return to recognising excellence within South Africa’s timeshare community, celebrating achievements that set the standard for growth and innovation. Hosted at the Sandton Sun and Towers, the evening brought together members, industry pioneers, and honoured guests, acknowledging those who have made significant contributions across the industry’s various sectors.
With discussions earlier in the day focused on future-proofing the industry, the awards reflected the importance of adaptability and responsibility in timeshare. Categories such as Refurbishments celebrated projects that have raised the bar for modern traveller expectations, while the Environmental and Community Initiatives category honoured eco-friendly projects and local upliftment efforts that demonstrate a commitment to responsible tourism. The Ambassador of the Year Award recognised the passion of timeshare employees, strengthening the loyalty of owners and members customer loyalty and highlighting the added value of timeshare ownership.
A particular highlight was the Standout Member award, which acknowledged members who actively support VOASA’s mission across various platforms, including legislative lobbying, industry marketing, research and industry insights, and the referral of new members. Eight engaged members were honoured for their significant contributions, reflecting the strength of the partnership between VOASA and its members in advancing industry interests.
Longstanding members achieving Gold and Silver status were celebrated for their loyalty, and certificates were awarded as tokens of appreciation for their decades of support. These awards serve as a reminder of the commitment that drives the timeshare industry forward.
This year also saw the introduction of the VOASA Members’ Hall of Fame, which was launched to honour industry pioneers who helped shape South Africa’s timeshare sector. This permanent recognition underscores the foundation they laid for the industry’s resilience and growth, setting a legacy for future leaders to build upon.
With the revival of these awards, VOASA reaffirms its commitment to promoting excellence and supporting a thriving community. The ceremony underscored the value of continued innovation, member engagement, and industry-wide growth, making it not only a night of accolades but also a reminder of the potential for timeshare to shape future holiday experiences.
VOASA thanks all attendees, recipients, finalists, and judges for supporting the awards and making the event successful.

Proofing The Timeshare Industry
The VOASA Conference on “Future Proofing the Timeshare Industry” was a standout success, drawing a full house of association members, industry leaders, regulators, legislators, and representatives from across the sector.
“As a group, the delegates brought an incredible energy and enthusiasm to the conference,” said Lee Greyling, VOASA General Manager. “It was fantastic to see the industry come together again, reconnecting with familiar faces and welcoming new players. “The lively atmosphere highlighted how essential these discussions are for the future growth of the timeshare community within a rapidly evolving landscape.”
The day opened with a panel led by Jon Kilroe-Smith, CEO of Club Mykonos Group, on “The New Operating Paradigm in Today’s Evolved Market.” Representatives from leading timeshare brands provided valuable insights on adapting and thriving in 2025 and beyond, sparking constructive discussions and interaction across the room. This set a strong foundation for the day, with each panel building on practical strategies and real-world experiences. The legislative panel attracted particular interest. Led by VOASA’s legislative consultant, Cari du Preez, panelists from the PPRA, REBOSA, and Services SETA discussed the status, challenges, and outlook of registering timeshare as a subsector with the PPRA.
Willie Roos, CEO of Stratafin, presented strategies for managing unpaid levies—an essential topic for financial stability within community schemes. The Consumer Ombudsman, Lee Soobrathi, then discussed the CGSO’s services and collaboration with VOASA. Closing the conference, Tshifhiwa Tshivhengwa, CEO of TBCSA, offered an optimistic outlook on domestic tourism growth and TBCSA’s role in sustaining this momentum, leaving attendees with an inspiring, forward-looking perspective.
VOASA Chairman John Lee expressed his appreciation, saying, “We sincerely thank all the speakers, panellists, and delegates who made the conference an insightful and productive event. It’s been a privilege to see the industry come together to share knowledge and shape the future of timeshare in South Africa—and this is only the beginning. At VOASA, our door is always open, and we encourage everyone to keep the dialogue going as we work together rather than waiting for the next event.”
The key outcomes of the discussion panels and recordings of the sessions will be made available to VOASA members, giving you the chance to revisit and reflect on the insights at your convenience. For further assistance, please email gm@voasa.co.za.
