VOASA Champions a Landmark Qualification for the Timeshare Industry

Behind every milestone in an industry lies a story of collaboration, expertise, and shared vision. VOASA’s recent success in concluding the curriculum development for the National Occupational Certificate: Timeshare Agent is exactly that—a testament to the power of industry unity and member dedication.

Working hand-in-hand with SSETA and the PPRA, VOASA led the charge to establish a qualification tailored specifically for the timeshare sector. This qualification marks the first of two being developed specifically for the timeshare industry and formalises key knowledge areas such as timeshare models, legal and regulatory compliance, sales, finance and exchange options amongst others.

But this achievement isn’t just about a certificate. It’s about creating the best possible business environment for VOASA members—a framework that upholds ethical selling, ensures compliance, and delivers real value to consumers. It’s about strengthening consumer protection while empowering timeshare agents with the knowledge and skills they need to excel.

This journey reflects the vast experience and insights of VOASA’s members—seasoned industry leaders who bring practical wisdom and strategic foresight. Key contributors like Mike O’Sullivan of Quantum Marketing, Bruce Campbell-Watt of Flowline Brokers, Niki McCulloch of Cape Escape, along with representatives from Dream Hotels and Resorts and the Beekman Group, devoted countless hours to shaping a qualification that serves the entire industry.

With the curriculum now complete, the next phase will focus on final consultation with the QCTO before official registration. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) pathways will also be established, allowing experienced agents who hold valid Fidelity Fund Certificates to transition smoothly into this new professional standard.

This milestone is a powerful example of what the timeshare industry can achieve through collaboration, commitment, and a shared goal to building a sustainable, reputable, and consumer-focused sector.

VOASA thanks all members and stakeholders who contributed their expertise to this milestone achievement. Together, we continue to raise the bar—not just for timeshare agents, but for the industry as a whole.
