A Path to Sustainable Growth in The Rental and Secondary Market

The panel discussion delivered a compelling message: sustainable growth in the secondary market hinges on flexibility, education, and maintaining a balanced portfolio. By integrating rentals, exchanges, and diverse ownership models, the industry can align with the evolving preferences of today’s holidaymakers.

Peter Edmondson (Managing Member of TravTrust Investments – sales agency for Dream Vacation Club) emphasised the opportunity within the market, stating:

“We’ve almost got a virgin market, and while some may question our relevance, I believe we are becoming increasingly relevant. In America, for example, the average age of buyers is decreasing. We have room for improvement but are flexible enough to meet these demands. We need to unify our message, highlighting the impressive statistics that our industry can claim.”

Panel Moderator, Jonathan Kilroe-Smith (Group CEO for Club Mykonos Langebaan) echoed this optimism, closing the discussion by highlighting the importance of skilful adaptation:

“We have a diverse sales mix and some powerful tools. The timeshare offering may not fundamentally change, but we must adapt and leverage these tools wisely. It’s a challenge that requires skill and precision, but it’s also an exciting opportunity.”

With a focus on adaptability and a steadfast commitment to integrity, the timeshare industry is poised to navigate future challenges and embrace sustainable growth.
